Earthjustice: Good News in the Fight Against Enbridge’s Line 5 Pipeline

In a major development for our fight against Enbridge’s proposed oil pipeline tunnel beneath the Straits of Mackinac, the Michigan Supreme Court has agreed to hear our challenge to the Michigan Public Service Commission’s (MPSC) approval of the project. This is a significant victory for our client, the Bay Mills Indian Community, and a broad coalition of Tribal Nations and environmental groups working to protect the Great Lakes. The Court’s decision to grant our appeal means we’ll have the opportunity to argue that the MPSC failed to properly assess the environmental risks of the project, including the long-term threat of oil spills and the cumulative impacts of continued fossil fuel infrastructure.
