
Esperanza Community Farms: Help Pack CSA Baskets
Esperanza Community Farms is a 3-acre community farm based in Watsonville. We deliver subsidized CSA baskets to local families. Volunteers are invited to join us for our NEW WINTER/SPRING season, to pack the CSA baskets at the farm in Watsonville. This opportunity includes packing the vegetables into mixed baskets in preparation for delivery. Packing the baskets is done while standing, with minimal walking around a single area of tables in the farm driveway. Coastal Watershed Council: Volunteer to Beautify San Lorenzo Park
Join the San Lorenzo Park Neighbors and the Santa Cruz Parks & Recreation Department for a morning of volunteer service to beautify San Lorenzo Park, followed by a concert! Make a difference by weeding, raking, and picking up trash in the park, and help with special projects that may include painting, sanding benches, planting, or pruning. Watsonville Wetlands Watch: Garden Gurus — Every Friday
Maintain the Native Plant Demonstration Garden at the Wetlands Educational Resource Center which includes weeding, planting, pruning. Observe plants in their habitat and record findings as a group. Keep plant ID markers current and visible. Tools and Gloves provided. Bring kneeling pad if desired. Info HERE.

Cal State Parks: Lighthouse Field State Beach Habitat Restoration
Support habitat restoration of popular day-use areas and trails! We will be planting native species and removing non-native vegetation. Target non-native species are Himalayan blackberry (Rubus armeniacus) and Ice plant (Carpobrotus edulis). Volunteers will wear gloves and use hand tools such as hori horis, pulaskis, hand clippers, and loppers to remove encroaching vegetation around plantings. We will employ 5-gallon buckets or other water-carrying equipment to transfer water to the planting areas. Ages 8 and older are welcome (minors must be accompanied by an adult and bring a signed waiver). Register HERE.

Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park: Volunteer Day
Help prepare the parks’ campgrounds for the upcoming season! Tasks include raking leaf litter from trails and campsites, blowing roads to clear them of debris, painting food lockers, creating slash piles or dispersing debris, and picking up trash. We may also sand and stain picnic tables as needed. Ages 8 and older welcome (minors must be accompanied by an adult and bring a waiver signed by their guardian).
